Belgium looked like another possible upset match in this year’s World Cup. That was until former Marseille forward – Michy Batshuayi became the hero of his national team’s first match by scoring the game winner against Canada.

Kylian Mbappé

Kylian Mbappé added to his goal and assist total for France against Australia. The PSG attacker was France’s most dangerous attacking player and showed why he is one of the best players in the world.

Breel Embolo

Swiss striker, Breel Embolo, overwhelmed the Cameroon defense and scored the game winner to earn his team 3 crucial points.

Jonathan David

Lille forward, Jonathan David, did not come up with the game tying goal, but caused problems for Belgium and was one of Canada’s best attackers moving forward.

Junya Ito

In an amazing World Cup upset, Reims winger, Junya Ito, was overwhelming on the right against Germany and arguably Japan’s best player.

Timothy Weah

Timothy Weah lifted the hopes of the U.S. with the opening goal against Wales. The Lille winger was clinical in his finish off of a brilliant run. Weah looks to be the clear-cut starter on the right side.

Achraf Hakimi

PSG defender, Achraf Hakimi, was by far Morocco’s best player. Morocco was unconvincing as a candidate to make it out of its group, but Hakimi fans have to be happy with what they are seeing.

Rafael Leao

Rafael Leao, former Lille number 9, not only scored his first World Cup goal that put away the game for Portugal, but the first goal for his country.

Jean-Charles Castelletto

Nantes Defender, Jean-Charles Castelletto,  was also his team’s best player. The center back made critical stops all match to keep the game within reach for Cameroon.
