We have seen some strange reasons for games being halted.
But Nice-Lille in Ligue 1 on Sunday afternoon may have been a new one entirely as a pigeon caused the game to be halted for several seconds.

It was Lille defender Ismaily who noticed the animal, which had sadly died, on the field of play and took it upon himself to remove him.
Although the less said about the manner the pigeon was unceremoniously dumped on the sidelines, the better.
RIP.
