Liga MX – Chivas Guadalajara Facing Financial Issues due to Coronavirus

Article image:Liga MX – Chivas Guadalajara Facing Financial Issues due to Coronavirus

Chivas Guadalajara is struggling financially due to the suspension of the Liga MX, which was caused by the coronavirus containment efforts. Chivas has stopped earning revenue due to the suspension of the Liga MX, and with no money coming in, has decided to postpone payments to all of its players, coaches and other staff.

Chivas Guadalajara will not pay anyone in the organization their latest paycheck, and will instead pay players and staff once the Liga MX resumes and Chivas see an improvement in their cash flow situation.

Chivas is not the first team in the Liga MX to postpone player and staff payments, though it is odd to see such a rich club doing the same as other more limited clubs in Mexico. This move leaves the Liga MX looking bad once again.

Although most players should be fine with the delayed payments, with the history of soccer in Mexico, it will be interesting to wait and see if Chivas and the other teams that have delayed payments actually do end up paying the money back, or simply leave it as a promise.

Coronavirus has affected every aspect of daily life, and superstar soccer players have also been affected. Let’s hope things become safe for the Liga MX to run once again.
