After the third week of the Liga MX Apertura, only three teams have taken all nine points.
Without further ado, we continue on with our power rankings for the 2018 Apertura!
Cruz Azul not only defeated previously-unbeaten Tigres 1-0, their defence didn’t allow a single shot on goal, despite conceding 71 per cent possession.
They are the only Liga MX side to earn three-straight clean sheets to begin the season.
Pumas went on the road and embarrassed Atlas 3-0 and currently lead the Liga MX table on goal difference. Their offence has scored an unbelievable 10 goals in their first three matches, which is nothing to sneeze at.
Monterrey absorbed an early penalty and superb play from rivals Querétaro to earn a 90th-minute winner and stay perfect in the young Liga MX season.
Tigres controlled much of the match on the road at Cruz Azul, as they owned 71 per cent possession despite star striker André-Pierre Gignac’s absence from the squad.
We’re sure that Tigres will be a major player in the Apertura play-offs.
Diego Lainez had the match of his life, as he scored twice at Pachuca and dazzled fans all match with a combination of football intelligence and unbelievable footwork.
The 18-year-old will make América a whole lot of money when (not if) a European squad decide to snatch him up.
Santos Laguna finally looked like defending champions as they absolutely dismantled Puebla in a 2-0 win.
Despite having lost their three best players before the start of the Apertura campaign, Santos are well on their way to a healthy post-season run.
Necaxa defeated Lobos at the death, which really isn’t anything to be excited about to be honest.
One positive is that they did so despite having to play with only 10 men for nearly an hour, and they didn’t look shorthanded either.
Tijuana did extremely well to come from behind and draw rivals Club León after going down to 10 men.
However, their choice of tactics were a bit odd, as Tijuana opted to drop back despite looking as if they still had the ability to dominate the match.
Last year’s finalists have been a bit inconsistent and undisciplined, constantly arguing with officials and causing drama with their opponents.
Last weekend, Toluca were not able to defeat a Chivas side who have massively struggled to begin the season. However, Toluca still look like they can put together a fantastic Apertura season with a few tweaks to their style of play.
It’s quite easy to fall in love with Monarcas and the constant drama that they get themselves into.
They looked as if they had completed an unbelievable comeback against bottom-side Veracruz with a 91st-minute winner.
However, the team lacked focus and conceded less than two minutes later to drop valuable points.
