Liga F round up: Brugts stars in Barcelona win, Sevilla stun Real Madrid | OneFootball

Liga F returned from the international break with another thrilling round of fixtures. Sevilla claimed a surprise victory over Real Madrid, while Esmee Brugts netted a hat-trick to lead Barcelona to another dominant win.

Here, we will round up all the action from matchday 11 of the Liga F season.

Costa Adeje Tenerife 2-0 Granada

Tenerife enjoyed a successful outing in the first fixture of matchday 11 as Koko Ange opened the scoring in the 10th minute. After taking a narrow lead into the break, the hosts doubled their advantage just past the hour mark. Thaís Ferreira pounced on a rebound to hook the ball home after Sandra Estévez had kept out Natalia Ramos’ free-kick.

Tenerife saw out the remainder of the contest to end a three-game winless run, while Granada have now lost their last 10 Liga F matches.

Sporting de Huelva 1-2 Real Sociedad

Real Sociedad’s Mirari Uria scored her second league goal of the campaign to give her side a 21st minute lead. After falling behind, the home side hit back in the closing stages of the first period. Katarzyna Konat produced a glancing header from Cienfu’s inviting delivery to level the scoreline before the break.

Unfortunately for the hosts, they could not prevent Real Sociedad from netting a winning goal in the 72nd minute. Synne Jenson ran beyond the Huelva backline, before slotting past Chelsea Ashurst to score her fourth goal in her last three club appearances. The win leaves Real Sociedad in ninth place, while Huelva are rooted to the bottom of the table with just a point to their name.

Barcelona 5-0 Eibar

After being frustrated by Eibar in a goalless first half, Barcelona moved through the gears following the restart, scoring four goals in nine thrilling minutes. Caroline Graham Hansen opened the scoring with a superb long-range effort that went in off the crossbar. The Norwegian then turned provider, squaring the ball for Esmee Brugts to flick home.

Moments later, the Netherlands international tapped into an empty net, before she guided the ball in from Lucía Corrales’s cut-back to wrap up her hat-trick. Ariana Arias added to Eibar’s misery, prodding home in the 88th minute to round off another comfortable win for the champions.

Real Madrid 1-3 Sevilla

Following a goalless first half, Sevilla took the lead in the 51st minute courtesy of an Oihane Hernández own goal. Real Madrid looked to have at least salvaged a point when Caroline Møller swept home a late equaliser. However, Sevilla ended their latest Liga F ame in style, netting two goals in stoppage time.

Arola Aparicio lifted the ball over Misa Rodríguez to put Sevilla back in front before Gemma Gili found the net with the last kick of the game. As a result of the defeat, Real Madrid dropped from second to third position.

Athletic Club 1-0 Levante

Levante suffered a narrow defeat in their first game since their CEO revealed the team’s budget would be reduced. The contest was decided in the 54th minute when Ane Azkona tapped home following some fine work from Nerea Nevado on the left flank. While 10th-placed Athletic celebrated a victory, a first league defeat of the season saw Levante drop out of the Champions League places.

Villarreal 2-2 Levante Las Planas

Villarreal spurned the chance to claim their third Liga F win of the season in Saturday’s home clash with Levante Las Planas. Bicho slotted past Nayluisa Cáceres to give Villarreal a half-time lead. María Llompart doubled her side’s advantage within two minutes of the restart when she drove a precise strike into the bottom corner.

The visitors were seemingly down and out until Cristina Baudet found the net to give her side a crucial foothold. Levante Las Planas were then given the chance to rescue a point when the referee pointed to the spot deep into stoppage time. Jessica Martínez stepped up to send the goalkeeper the wrong way and deny Villarreal a precious victory.

Real Betis 0-2 Atlético Madrid

Estefanía Banini got the visitors up and running in the sixth minute. The Argentina international drove a low strike into the bottom corner to register her second league goal of the season. Rasheedat Ajibade then doubled her side’s advantage in the second period with a composed strike past Paula Vizoso. A fourth consecutive victory moved Atleti into second place. As for Betis, they finished the weekend in 11th position.

Valencia 3-4 Madrid CFF

Madrid CFF pulled off a stunning comeback to claim all three points against Valencia on Sunday.

Ivonne Chacón tapped into an empty net to give Valencia a slender half-time lead. Pauleta made it 2-0 after the break, before Racheal Kundananji got her side on the board. Chacón appeared to quash the visitors’ hopes of a positive result when she lifted the ball over Paola Ulloa to net her second goal of the evening.

However, as it proved, a defiant Madrid CFF side staged a late showing to snatch all three points. First, Karen Araya tucked the ball home from Luany’s cut-back, before Aldana Cometti levelled the scoreline in the 80th minute. Ana González went on to complete the dramatic turnaround in stoppage time, dispatching her spot-kick to keep fifth-placed Madrid CFF firmly in the hunt for Champions League football.
