Liga F: Barcelona ease past Real Madrid to win El Clásico | OneFootball

Barcelona moved another step closer to retaining their Liga F crown with a commanding El Clásico performance in Sunday’s away clash against rivals Real Madrid in.

Elsewhere, Athletic Club got the better of Real Sociedad to claim the bragging rights in Saturday’s Basque derby.

Costa Adeje Tenerife 5-0 Sevilla

Tenerife kicked off the matchday with a dominant performance against Sevilla. Thais nodded home from an early Rinsola Babajide corner to put the hosts in front inside the opening two minutes. Babajide then produced an unstoppable effort, thumping a left-foot strike in off the underside of the crossbar.

The former Liverpool player grabbed her second assist in the 39th minute, sending a deep cross to the back post for María Estella to guide home. There was still time left in a one-sided first half for Jassina Blom to add a fourth to Tenerife’s tally.  Estella went on to grab her second goal within three minutes of the restart to compound Sevilla’s misery.

Levante 7-0 Real Betis

Levante ended their four-game winless run with an emphatic win over Real Betis. The home side found the breakthrough in the 15th minute courtesy of a Paula Perea own goal. Antonia tapped home from close range to double Levante’s advantage, before Gabi Nunes added a third in first half stoppage time.

Matters ultimately got worse for Betis in the second period, with Nuria Ligero deflecting the ball into her own net in the 58th minute. Alba Redondo then produced a sublime finish from the edge of the box to take Levante’s tally to five. Estela Carbonell pounced on a rebound to net a sixth, before Redondo rounded off a comprehensive victory with her second goal of the game. The win keeps Levante in third spot, while Betis remain in the bottom two.

Real Sociedad 0-1 Athletic Club

One goal proved enough to settle Saturday’s Basque derby at the Reale Arena. As the contest reached the hour mark, Nahikari García collected the ball on the edge of the box with her back to goal. Despite being surrounded by four Real Sociedad players, the forward managed to find a way through and drive a precise strike into the bottom corner.

García’s superb effort proved enough to guide Athletic Club to a fifth consecutive league victory. While Athletic moved into sixth place, Real Sociedad finished the weekend in eighth spot.

Valencia 4-1 Granada

Valencia moved seven points clear of the drop zone with a commanding victory in Saturday’s home meeting with Granada. Macarena Portales opened the scoring in the 19th minute, striking the ball on the half-volley to fire in off the inside of the post.

Anita Marcos and Asun Martínez both found the net within five minutes of the restart to effectively wrap up all three points with the majority of the second half left to play. Ivonne Chacon went on to net Valencia’s fourth, rounding the onrushing Sandra Estévez to slot into an empty net.

Laura Requena dispatched a late spot-kick for the visitors, but it mattered very little in terms of the result. While Valencia boosted their survival hopes, Granada are left hovering above the bottom two.

Eibar 1-1 Atlético Madrid

Atlético Madrid’s hopes of achieving a top three finish received a setback on Sunday. The visitors got off to a promising start at Ipurua, taking the lead through Spain international Eva Navarro. The 23-year-old thumped the ball home from close range to register her fifth goal of the Liga F season.

Atleti appeared to be on course to claim all three points until Eibar carved out a dramatic 88th minute winner. Eva van Deursen laid the ball off for Camino to drill a left-foot strike beyond the despairing Patricia Larqué. Fifth-placed Atleti are now four points adrift of the Champions League spots, while Eibar have moved four points clear of the bottom two.

Real Madrid 0-3 Barcelona

Barcelona’s Liga F dominance over Real Madrid continued in Sunday’s El Clásico meeting at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano. The league leaders required just 10 minutes to find a way through the Real Madrid backline. Fridolina Rolfö tapped in from close range after being set up by Ona Batlle’s low cross. After taking a narrow lead into the break, Barcelona doubled their advantage in the opening stages of the second period. Aitana Bonmatí swept the ball home from Caroline Graham Hansen’s neat cut-back to quash Real Madrid’s hopes of picking up a positive result.

Graham Hansen then got her own name on the scoresheet to wrap up another successful outing for the reigning champions. As a result of the El Clásico victory, Barça are now 12 points clear at the top of the Liga F table.

Levante Las Planas 1-1 Villarreal

Kayla McKenna netted her seventh goal of the Liga F season to give Villarreal an early advantage on Sunday. The 27-year-old guided the ball home after Fatou Kanteh’s fierce strike had been tipped onto the post.

The Yellow Submarine held onto their lead until the 65th minute when Jessica Martínez pulled the visitors level. The Paraguay international pounced on a mix-up in the Villarreal backline to poke the ball past Nayluisa Cáceres and ensure the spoils were shared.

Madrid CFF 2-1 Sporting Club Huelva

Madrid CFF negotiated a tricky test in their home meeting with basement side Huelva. After netting a hat-trick in the previous outing, Gio found the net in the opening 20 minutes to continue her fine form in front of goal. The Arsenal loanee drove into the box, before producing a strong finish with her right foot.

Huelva managed to find a response in the second period thanks to a piece of individual brilliance from Bárbara López. The substitute showcased her skilful footwork to create the opening to curl the ball over Paola Ulloa. López’s stunning effort ultimately proved to be in vain as Madrid CFF grabbed a second from the penalty spot. Mônica kept her composure to roll home the spot-kick and clinch three precious points.
