Liel Abada looks set to leave Celtic with a move to MLS side FC Charlotte. The Israeli winger has struggled to deal with the scrutiny from his homeland due to playing for Celtic owing to the Celtic support standing by Palestine against the invasion of Gaza by Israeli forces.

According to Football Insider, a deal has been agreed with the MLS side with the winger pushing for an exit.

The fee will be interesting to see and it is an absolute must that Celtic have a sizeable sell-on fee for the young attacker. Brendan Rodgers sidelined the player, who has been receiving awful abuse from Israeli accounts on his Instagram page due to the association with Celtic. This will have played a huge part in unsettling the winger and ultimately pushing him out.

Since arriving in the summer of 2021, Abada has been an excellent acquisition by Celtic and now, it looks as if the current issue is forcing a premature departure. The Celtic manager dealt with the player in the best possible manner by getting an arm around him and convincing him that he will not face a backlash from fans over his nationality. It must be reinforced that this isn’t the case and the player has been supported by Celtic fans.

In 106 appearances, Abada has assisted 21 times while netting on 29 occasions. His goal contributions have been missed this year as injuries and personal issues have kept him out the side.
