Barcelona managed to beat Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 at home and booked a spot in the UEFA Women’s Champions League final winning 3-2 on aggregate.
Scorers: Martens 8′, 31′; Katoto 34′
Level 1-1 on aggregate heading into the match, Barcelona looked to make the most of playing at home and they treated the few fans in the stadium to a thrilling semi-final.
The hosts quickly took control of the match against PSG thanks to a Lieke Martens brace, one of which was a flying strike from the top of the box.
Yet even down 2-0, the visitors weren’t giving up that easily and Marie-Antoinette Katoto scored a crucial away goal to keep her team in the tie.
In the second half, Barcelona called for a penalty after PSG goalkeeper Christiane Endler looked to have brought down Alexia Putellas but it was waved off. Later on, the hosts also hit the woodwork twice.
PSG continued to try and find another goal to save their UWCL campaign but in the end, their efforts fell just short.
Barcelona will now face either Chelsea or Bayern Munich in the final on 16 May.
