The Arsenal midfielder, who captains Switzerland, revealed the news via Instagram, writing: “After my abscess-operation back in November, a little more attention was needed – so here comes round two.”
She admitted the operation had been planned but described it as “not easy for her”, adding “Staying positive as always and manifesting full recovery.”
Back in November, Wälti was forced out of the Swiss national team camp ahead of matches against Germany and England after a lump was discovered and diagnosed as an abscess requiring immediate hospital intervention.

At that time, she issued a message urging others to be aware of changes in their health: “This is a reminder to always tune in to your body. I listened to mine, paid attention to what felt different, and trusted my instincts to get it checked.
“What seemed small turned out to be an abscess, but because we caught it early, I got the help I needed. I feel so lucky it was caught in time. Please take care of yourself and never ignore the little signs!”
There has been no official update on how long the 32-year-old will be unavailable this time, but the first procedure kept Wälti out of action for two months, with her return coming on 19 January against Crystal Palace.
