Arsenal midfielder Lia Walti has signed a new contract with the club to extend her stay in north London.
The 30-year-old joined the Gunners in 2018 from German side Turbine Potsdam and has gone to make 128 appearances in all competitions.
Walti, who recently took a short personal break from both club and international football, has also clocked up over 100 international caps for Switzerland and will feature for her country at this summer's Women's World Cup.
“It’s special moment for me to commit my future to Arsenal and I’m very happy and excited," Walti said of her decision to renew her contract. “Arsenal means so much to me – it felt like home from the moment I joined and over the years I’ve built such strong bonds with this club and the community around it."
"This is an exciting time to be a part of Arsenal, and I want to keep making new memories with this group.”
Walti played a key role in Arsenal's WSL title win in the 2018/19 season and was also a prominent figure in this season's successful Conti Cup campaign.
"I’m delighted that Lia is staying with us at Arsenal. She is one of the best midfielders in world football and brings us so much in terms of leadership and presence," Jonas Eidevall, Arsenal's head coach, added.
"Lia has played a pivotal role within this team during my time here, and I’m looking forward to continuing to work together to achieve our goals.”
