As Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool continue their preparations for two big games over the next four days, we take a quick look at all the LFC news this week.

Liverpool had to settle for a 0-0 draw with Manchester United at Anfield last Sunday in their Premier League clash. The Reds are now four league games without a win and three matches without a goal. They have the chance to change their form on Thursday night when Sean Dyche’s Burnley men arrive at Anfield.

It’s still unclear if Liverpool defender Joël Matip will be in the starting eleven for the Burnley game. The former Cameroon international missed the United game through injury but has returned to full training this week.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com on Sunday about Matip’s injury, Klopp said:

“He will be in the mix [for the Burnley game], but I don’t know. “I’m pretty sure he trained today, another tough session, [that] means [he] will be from tomorrow on with us. Probably yes, we don’t know.”

Liverpool are also waiting on the return of Naby Keïta, Diogo Jota and Kostas Tsimikas to full fitness in the very near future.

Regarding Keïta, Klopp commented in his pre-United press conference:

“Naby is not ready for involvement. It’s not a big thing; it’s a little bit like with other players in the past when they came back from injuries and then because of the amount of games and situation in the squad they had to play. “Then a little injury happened again. Now we just had to put on the brake and say, ‘Let’s settle it properly.’ In the moment we have alternatives in midfield, so we really try to give him all the time he needs to get 100 per cent fit. That’s the situation, so no, he is not in contention for Sunday.”

In other Liverpool news, Harvey Elliott’s impressive stint on loan at Blackburn Rovers continued at the weekend. The 17-year-old winger set up his side’s equalising goal at Ewood Park on Saturday. Elliott now has four goals and 8 assists to his credit in just 21 appearances for the Championship club.
