Is This the End for Elliot at Liverpool?

In a candid and reflective interview, Harvey Elliot has ignited serious conversation about his Liverpool future. On Lewis Steele’s YouTube channel, the topic was explored in depth following Elliot’s striking comments ahead of the Under-21 European Championship. Guest contributor Nathan Salt joined Steele to share direct insights from his conversation with the midfielder at St George’s Park.

Elliot Speaks Honestly About Liverpool Future

“Is it the end for Elliot?” began Steele, framing the gravity of the interview. The Liverpool midfielder, still only 21, was refreshingly honest. “He doesn’t want to be wasting years of his career,” Steele noted. Elliot himself said, “I can’t waste any more years of my career,” adding that he and his team “have to really consider whether he needs to leave Liverpool.”

Elliot was clear that his love for the club remains unchanged. Salt reported, “He said, ‘I don’t want to leave Liverpool,’” but also questioned, “am I going to get the game time moving forward?” It is a dilemma many young talents face at top clubs and Elliot seems to be facing it head-on.

He reflected on the season just gone, admitting it had been “weird and difficult at the same time,” even though the club won the league. Salt observed, “I got the impression that he’s at peace with the fact that he might need to leave Liverpool, as difficult as that would be.”

Inside the Podcast: Nathan Salt’s Analysis

Nathan Salt described Elliot as “a great talker” and praised his maturity. “He actually used a phrase… ‘we need to be mature about the situation,’” Salt revealed. The player’s maturity and self-awareness were evident throughout the conversation. “Liverpool don’t owe him appearances,” Salt added, emphasising Elliot’s understanding of the club’s demands.

Elliot’s quote after the PSG goal was also recalled: “This is my club. I want to fight for my place.” Yet, a few months on, the mood has shifted. “Now… it feels like he’s maybe come to a realisation being realistic that it might be best for him to leave,” said Steele.

Harvey Elliot, Tyler Morton and the Under-21 Euros

Elliot isn’t alone in facing uncertainty. Tyler Morton, another Liverpool talent, was also interviewed by Salt. “His exact phrasing was, ‘It’s been the toughest season mentally for me’,” Salt reported. Despite being kept at the club by Arne Slot, Morton found himself sidelined: “Doesn’t play a minute in the Premier League… doesn’t feel part of it.”

Interestingly, Morton still had praise for the new manager. “He said [Slot] was the best manager he’s ever worked with in terms of tactics,” Salt shared, noting a contrast to Klopp’s more free-flowing approach.

Salt also touched on the importance of the Under-21 tournament, saying it could be a critical turning point: “Maybe [Elliot] boosts his value at this tournament or maybe he plays so good that Arne Slot says, ‘Hang on a minute. Maybe we do need to keep this kid around.’”

What Comes Next?

While Lewis Steele and Nathan Salt avoided predicting Elliot’s next move, they both agreed the player has come to a crucial juncture. “He’s so mature that he’s got to a point gone, ‘I don’t want to leave, but I might have to if that’s the only option,’” Salt concluded.

Whether Elliot remains at Liverpool or moves on, his comments and composure reveal a young man ready to take control of his career. “We don’t know what’s going to happen,” Steele said, but added, “He obviously wants to succeed at Liverpool. Maybe he will, maybe he won’t.”

As Elliot gears up for the Under-21 Euros, all eyes, including those of Liverpool scouts, will be watching closely.
