Chelsea have agreed to sell teenage prodigy Lewis Hall to Newcastle United for £28 million, according to the Telegraph.

This move comes a few days after Chelsea agreed to extend Hall’s contract by six years, emphasising their belief in his promise.

The Slough-born star was impactful despite making only 11 first-team appearances last season. He created five big chances from the left-back position.

Hall, naturally a midfielder, broke into Chelsea’s first team to replace injured left-backs Marc Cucurella and Ben Chilwell.

Despite his performances, he is behind that pair and Ian Maatsen in the pecking order.

Chelsea’s original plan was to loan Hall to a Premier League club for further development.

However, they have decided to cash in to aid their bid to avoid breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

The club’s unprecedented expenditure exceeding £900 million in transfer fees has impacted their accounts.

They need to sell homegrown stars to balance their books. Mason Mount has already been sold, while Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah could follow.

Newcastle have secured the services of a diamond in the rough from Chelsea’s academy and one of England’s brightest prospects.

Hall will provide competition for Matt Targett and Dan Burn at left-back. He can also play in midfield and give them options there.
