Teenager defender Lewis Gibson is eager for a chance to impress at Everton, but is aware a loan move may be required.
It has been a good week for the 18-year-old, who helped Everton to the Premier League 2 title with a win over Brighton.
With that achievement under his belt, he is now keen to make the step up to the next level.
Although he has been an impressive performer for the Toffees’ Under-23 side, he hasn’t been given a first team opportunity yet.
“I’m hoping to push on as I’ve played for the Under-23s for almost two years,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
“In an ideal world, that would be in Everton’s first team but if opportunities are limited, it will be on loan.
“Hopefully I can push on with Everton because my dream ever since I’ve been here is to play in the first team.
“I’m just patiently waiting for my chance.”
Gibson, who has skippered the Under-23 outfit, joined from Newcastle United in 2017.
