When Robert Lewandowski plays he usually scores, and that’s exactly what happened when Bayern Munich took on Wolfsburg on the final day of the Bundesliga season on Saturday.
A brilliant header to make it 2-0 late in the first half takes Lewandowski’s tally to a staggering 50 goals in all competitions this season.
But after the club’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić confirmed before kick-off that the Polish hit-man has asked to leave Bayern this summer, his goal was a bittersweet moment.
It’s the end of an era.
