Chelsea are all set to face Liverpool at the iconic Wembley Stadium in the 2024 EFL Cup final. They thrashed Middlesbrough in the previous round to reach the final. They have won the cup five times in the year 1965, 1998, 2005, 2007, 2015.

The Blues must be high in confidence after their impressive run across all the competitions. As the match against Tottenham Hotspur was postponed, their players will be fresh enough. They will look to give their all to bring the cup home.

Defence

Djordje Petrovic has done well in Robert Sanchez’s absence and is likely to start the game despite the latter’s return. Key performer Malo Gusto will continue to operate at the right-back position as Reece James is yet to gain his full fitness.

While defender Axel Disasi’s position is secured in the starting lineup, Levi Colwill may be sent to the bench if Thiago Silva manages to return in time. But it won’t be a problem either way as Colwill has been doing up to the mark in the centre-back position.

As Luke Shaw is having an injury concern, Ben Chilwell will start in the left-back position. Though his defence has been solid, his forward passes need to be more accurate.

Midfield

Despite a dismal performance against City, Moises Caicedo will continue to be the holding midfielder alongside Enzo Fernandez.

While Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling will care take of the flanks, Conor Gallagher will play as an attacking midfielder. The trio are performing well for the English club this season so far.

Attack

Nicolas Jackson hasn’t been performing to the standards that Mauricio Pochettino would want from his striker. He has found the back of the net only nine times this season so far. The 22-year-old needs to lift his game and prove his quality against Liverpool on Sunday.

The likes of Romeo Lavia (thigh), Wesley Fofana (torn ACL), Reece James (thigh), Marc Cucurella (ankle), Lesley Ugochukwu (hamstring) and Benoit Badiashile (groin) will not be available for selection.
