Manchester United fans react as Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes face off at the Euros

The much-awaited Euro 2020 matchup between Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes was a rather anticlimatic affair with the latter starting the game on the bench.

It was perhaps underwhelming given the challenge that the Portuguese maestro had made to Pogba last week. The Frenchman however rose to the occasion and delivered a stunning performance for the World Champions.

While Pogba’s performance didn’t quite reach the levels he showed against Germany, it was neverthless a standout night for him in a star-studded French side. The only low point on the night came when he was nutmegged during a Portuguese counter-attack.

Fernandes meanwhile continues to disappoint on the big stage. A dominant performance by Renato Sanches could very well see the United ace consigned to the bench in the upcoming fixtures.

It is quite telling that Fernandes’ biggest talking point of the night was getting away with a stonewall foul on Kingsley Coman that went unseen by VAR. Pogba clearly took home the bragging rights on the night and it was not lost on the United fans.
