UEFA Champions League clash v Real Sociedad

With a good 800 fans supporting us we are to gun for revenge in Northern Spain

The first meeting at the start of October at the Red Bull Arena showed us that Real Sociedad are extremely strong opponents! If we play to our full potential, we have every hope of pulling a surprise on Imanol Alguacil's side, however!

We will have to be fully on it from the start this time and avoid going two down early on against top-class opponents like Real Sociedad.

The Basques are leaders of our UEFA Champions League group with ten points from four matches, meaning that their spot in the last 16 is already secure, and they are now locked in a battle with Inter Milan to top the group. There is no chance they will take it easy against us in any way. Erreala have continued their fine form in La Liga, taking a 2-1 home win last weekend against Sevilla to go into fifth.

Our aim is to get a result and secure third place to ensure we go into the UEFA Europa League knockout stages. We could make sure of that this week if we get more points than Benfica (currently on zero points and bottom of the group) do at the same time against Inter.

Our boys have shown in their two Champions League away matches so far this season that they are not going to be intimidated by a big European night on the road – taking a 2-0 win in Lisbon and being narrowly beaten 1-2 in Milan. We want to put in another showing we can be proud of on the biggest stage of European football on Wednesday at the Reale Arena!

We know that we can seal things this week, but we aren't focusing on that for a second. Our sole focus is on the difficult match against top opponents. We want to play our own way again and prove once more that we can compete.

Real Sociedad have huge quality and they are incredible on the ball. We will have to be fully in the match from the first minute on and be very concentrated. We will only look at the table after the match, as it is not a topic right now.
