Jefferson Lerma had to wait for his first Crystal Palace goal but it arrived in fine style against Chelsea on Monday.
The game had been a dull affair until the Columbia international stepped up to hammer a thunderous effort past Đorđe Petrović and into the top right corner from outside of the box.
It was Lerma’s first goal for the Eagles colours since joining Roy Hodgson’s side on a free transfer from Bournemouth the previous summer.
After 25 attempts on goal during his time in South London, it was ironic that his first strike arrived against his boyhood heroes of all teams.
But Lerma’s joy was ultimately short-lived as Mauricio Pochettino’s side ran out eventual 3-1 winners at Selhurst Park.
