América fell at the last hurdle as León recorded a 1-0 win over Las Águilas in the final of eLiga MX.
With Nicolás Sosa at the controls, Los Panzas Verdes hit the front in the 18th minute and managed to defend that lead for the remainder of the game.
The goal came after some intricate play from a short free-kick, with Joel Campbell leathering home a left-footed finish from 15 yards out.
América, with Santiago Cáseres at the helm, manufactured some good opportunities but a combination of good goalkeeping and lacklustre finishing denied them an equaliser.
Their best chance came in the 88th minute.
A cross from the right flank found Giovani dos Santos unmarked six yards from goal, but he nodded a header agonisingly wide.
That allowed León to hold on to claim the title after an exciting competition that has helped fill the void left by the cancellation of the Liga MX Clausura.
