Leon Goretzka is confident that his Bayern Munich side can beat Barcelona on Friday but is wary of putting too much focus on Lionel Messi.
Bayern face the Blaugrana in Lisbon in three days’ time and after their comprehensive win over Chelsea in the last 16, are clear favourites to reach the Champions League semi-finals.
Messi is clearly Barça’s danger man, but Goretzka has issued a warning to his team mates that the Spanish giants have other players who can cause problems.
“I think we can beat any opponent,” he told reporters in the Portuguese capital.
“But nevertheless, we know that waiting for us are a very good team with world class players.
“We’re going into the game though, with our chests out – something that we’ve developed over these past nine months.
“We don’t have a specific tactic [for Messi]. We know that there are other stars playing at Barcelona, so we will be ready for everyone.
“This is a knockout game so we have to go into the match with the right mentality.
“Look at the Leverkusen game yesterday. That annoyed me because they actually played a good game but were eliminated because of the first 20 minutes – I had the feeling they would have progressed over two legs.”
