Leny Yoro on Bayern’s Summer shortlist

According to Florian Plettenberg, FC Bayern Munich are eyeing a move for Lille hot centre-back prospect Leny Yoro (18). The Frenchman has only accumulated a total of 34 appearances in all competitions for LOSC, and could already be on his way to Germany.

The German club are fond of picking up young French talents, with obvious examples being Franck Ribéry (40), who was 24 at the time of joining Bayern from Marseille, Kingsley Coman (27) who was 19 years old, or more recently Mathys Tel (18), who signed for the club when he was only 17 years of age, all of which had flying starts to their careers in Germany.

Lenny Yoro and the Bundesliga, the perfect fit?

Yoro has a tall but slim build which allows him to be agile, and more importantly very composed, with the ball at his feet, distributing elegantly and pushing forward when necessary. This would allow him to thrive in a transitional play-heavy league such as the Bundesliga, as his ball-playing ability would make him invaluable in quickly finding partners higher up the pitch.

Thanks to his height, the 18-year-old can be menacing in the air, specifically with offensive set pieces, off of which he has already found the back of the net twice this season. However, his lack in the physical department sometimes makes him a liability in duels, losing a considerable amount of defensive aerial challenges, something he will definitely have to work to continue his progression.

If the deal were to happen, Yoro would be hoping to find similar success to the one Dayot Upamecano (25) has had so far, and less so the one Tanguy Nianzou (21) had in Germany. Perhaps the move would also get him closer to his first call-up to the France squad, as he is already playing with the u21 team under Thierry Henry.
