Six months after his aborted transfer to Le Havre, Malang Sarr (25) will finally return to Ligue 1 and sign a two-year deal with RC Lens, according to Foot Mercato.

Being a surplus to requirement at Chelsea, Sarr was in search of pastures new this summer. With his contract expiring next summer, the Blues have also pushed towards the exit their centre-back, who never lived up to expectations. Despite multiple managers coming through the club since his arrival from OGC Nice in 2020, Sarr failed to make an impression and was consecutively loaned out to FC Porto and AS Monaco, where he also missed the opportunity to prove his worth. Looking to strengthen their back line, Lens have set their sights on the French defender, and are set to seal the deal.

Sarr will sign a two-year deal with the Sang et Or, and is expected to pass his medical visit this Monday. The Artois side have managed to quickly find an agreement on personal terms with the centre back, who is looking for a new challenge where he could have more game time, as he didn’t play a single minute with the first team last season. No transfer fee has been indicated by the French outlet, which states that the deal could be completed in the next few days.
