According to Foot Mercato, Lens had shown an initial interest in signing Red Bull Salzburg central defender Oumar Solet (23) in the January transfer window. However, the Ligue 1 club have been priced out of a move for the former Lyon defender who is considered too expensive for Les Sang et Or.

It appears that last season’s Ligue 1 runners-up are set to be beaten to the 23-year-old’s signature by Napoli. The Serie A champions have agreed a fee with Salzburg for the French defender, Foot Mercato report. The Naples club are now working to agree personal terms with the Laval academy graduate.

Flattering interest

In an interview with Foot Mercato in 2023, Solet commented on the interest from Italian clubs shown in him, saying “It is very flattering.” As things stand, if Napoli can agree personal terms it seems that he could now be playing his football in Italy for the foreseeable future.
