One year after his arrival from Paris FC, Morgan Guilavogui (26) is set to leave RC Lens and join Bundesliga’s St Pauli on loan with an option to buy, reports L’Equipe.
In his sole season at Lens, Guilavogui failed to live up to expectations. Coming off an outstanding season in Ligue 2, in which he logged 16 goals in 32 games with Paris FC, the Guinea international struggled to make the jump to the highest level. Facing fierce competition from Elye Wahi (21), Florian Sotoca (33) and Wesley Saïd (29), Guilavogui only enjoyed three starts across all competitions last season, logging two goals in 28 games. Looking for more gametime, the 28-year-old striker is set to have his first experience abroad.
Promoted to Bundesliga after winning the second tier on the final day, St Pauli is looking to strengthen their offensive unit ahead of a season that could be very challenging for the Hamburg side. Despite his lack of gametime last season, Guilavogui still competed in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League with the Artois side. An experience that could be valuable to the young German side, who are set to sign the centre forward on loan with an option to buy, reports L’Equipe.
