After a revelation promotion season in Ligue 1 Uber Eats, RC Lens have locked down the services of highly rated coach Franck Haise, extending his contract through to 2023.

Haise's contract was due to expire at the end of the upcoming season, but the club from France's north have made sure that their dugout impresario will be around longer to build on the success he enjoyed in season 2020-21. Stunning season

RC Lens were the surprise packet of the season, wowing the Ligue 1 Uber Eats world with some stunning football and a serious tilt at a European finish - in their promotion season - and coach Franck Haise drew many plaudits for his role at the helm. After arriving at the club to replace Philippe Montanier in February 2020, he oversaw the club's promotion to Ligue 1 Uber Eats and then, in his first full season in charge, gave the country's best clubs a run for their money.

'Big things will be expected'

Thus there was little surprise when the club - who made star playmaker Gaël Kakuta's loan from Amiens permanent in late May - announced on Friday that it had secured the Frenchman's services for a supplementary season. "It's a pleasure to work with the coach and to be in daily contact with the man," beamed RC Lens General Manager Arnaud Pouille, speaking to the club's official website (rclens.fr). "Franck and his staff are the ones who have the mission of making the club's dearly held values of hard work and commitment manifest out on the field. Big things will be expected of the club next season and this extension represents all the confidence we have in Franck." (Photo: rclens.fr)
