According to a report from L’Équipe, RC Lens are considering a move for Stade Brestois centre-back Julien Le Cardinal (27).
Les Sang et Or are searching for reinforcements this summer with several positions in need of new blood. The centre of defence remains a priority following the departures of Kevin Danso and Abdukodir Khusanov in the winter window, and Facundo Medina this summer.
The club had been looking at Manchester City centre-back Juma Bah (19), who had spent the latter half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Lens. However, the club baulked at the financial demands of bringing the teenager back on loan.
Lens’s search has seen them turn back to a former player. Le Cardinal left Lens for Brest, initially on loan in the 2023/24 season, before the transfer was made permanent last summer. Lens would be keen to bring the defender back, although he has two years left on his contract.
L’Équipe notes that Lens have not made contact with the player, and they are not the only team interested. However, it will be difficult for any team to convince Brest to part ways with the Frenchman, as they are not willing to sell.
