Bernd Leno could be set to leave Arsenal this month after the Gunners opened talks with New England Revolution over the signing of goalkeeper, Matt Turner.

Leno has lost his place as the club’s number one this season following the summer arrival of Aaron Ramsdale, with the Germany international having not featured in the Premier League since starting the Gunners’ opening three fixtures of the season.

The 29-year-old spoke of his disappointment at being dropped from the side earlier this season and has been linked with a return to the Bundesliga, whilst Newcastle have also been credited with an interest in signing Leno on loan.

Arsenal’s interest in a new goalkeeper could accelerate developments with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the Gunners have made an approach to sign Turner from New England Revolution.

Mikel Arteta’s side have made an approach for Turner, who was named as MLS Goalkeeper of the Year in 2021. Sky Sports have revealed that the club’s bid for the shot-stopper is believed to be in the region of £5m.

The 27-year-old has also established himself ahead of Manchester City’s Zack Steffen as the number one for the United States at international level, earning 13 caps since making his senior debut in January 2021.

He started all six fixtures as the USA won the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup, keeping five clean sheets.
