Devastating news for Lena Oberdorf and FC Bayern: the midfielder sustained an injury to the cruciate and medial collateral ligament in her right knee during Germany's EURO qualifier against Austria (4-0) on Tuesday evening. The 22-year-old will therefore miss the Olympics in Paris with the German team and a large part of the upcoming season for Bayern.

Bianca Rech, director of FC Bayern Women, promised the summer signing the full support of the club: "This is a severe blow and we all feel for Lena. We'll support her on her way back and be there for her in every respect. Lena is a fighter and there's a lot to come from her."
