Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku will not opt for Congo

Foot Mercato report that Christopher Nkunku’s entourage has “categorically” denied rumours that the midfielder will opt for the Congo DR national team over France.

The former Paris Saint-Germain man is eligible for both teams, and has yet to be called up for Didier Deschamps for the senior French national team.

The player’s representatives nevertheless assert that the 24-year-old is fully concentrated on his ambitions with his club and with Les Bleus.

There have been growing calls for Nkunku to be part of this year’s France set-ups, having scored an impressive 19 goals in all competition this season with Leipzig as well as registering 16 assists.
