Born in Loughborough, Choudhury spent ten years in the Foxes youth ranks before making his professional debut for the club during the 2017-18 season after previous loan spells with Burton Albion.

Despite being capped for the England U21s, Choudhury has opted to pay homage to his family heritage and represent Bangladesh, and in doing so, will become the first-ever Premier League player to bear the nation's flag.

Per BBC Sport, the midfielder stated “I’m so happy everything is over the line and I can’t wait to be playing for Bangladesh" after FIFA’s Player Status Chamber of the Football Tribunal officially signed off on his eligibility.

Not only will Choudhury become the first Bangladesh international to feature in the Premier League, but the only player to represent a nation from the Asian subcontinent.

Ex-Newcastle and Sunderland forward Michael Chopra was eligible to represent India, but first had to renounce his British citizenship to do so, thus missing out on writing his own name into league lore.

Choudhury's first chance to represent Bangladesh will be on 27 March during an Asian Cup qualifying tie against India in Kolkata.
