Liverpool will be looking to take another step closer to the Premier League title when they travel to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City on Sunday 20th April at 4:30pm. The Reds are 11 points clear at the top of the table with seven games left to play and closing in on title number 20. Leicester are fighting for their lives in the relegation zone, close to dropping. This game will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Premier League.
Liverpool have scored three goals in each of their past three games against Leicester across all competitions.
Liverpool have averaged 6.42 corners per game in the Premier League this season, compared to Leicester’s 3.81. The Foxes have also conceded an average of 6.19 corners per game.
Leicester are on their way back to the Championship. The Foxes are 15 points from safety with seven games left to play, and could essentially be relegated with defeat against Liverpool. Ruud van Nistelrooy’s appointment hasn’t worked for Leicester, who are currently on the worst home run in English Football League history. Leicester have lost each of their past eight home league games, all without scoring.
A title-chasing Liverpool are not the team they’d have wanted to face next at the King Power. The Reds have lost just two games all season, though one of those was a recent defeat to Fulham. It was Liverpool’s first away league defeat of the season, but Arne Slot’s side aren’t expected to make a habit of it. Liverpool are the best away team in the league this season, taking 35 points from their 16 games on the road so far — seven more than any other team.
Facundo Buonanotte will be available for selection having been unable to face parent club Brighton and Hove Albion in the preceding match. But Abdul Fatawu is a long-term absentee.
This game will be too soon for both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez, though both are expected to return in the coming weeks.
Liverpool have won their past five games against Leicester across all competitions. It’s their best such run in this fixture for almost 30 years (also five games). Liverpool have never won six consecutive games against Leicester.
