Gunners return to winning ways
Arsenal celebrated their return to Premier League action with a 2-0 win away at Leicester. It is the perfect response from the Gunners following their desperately disappointing Carabao Cup semi-final defeat to Newcastle as they have cut the gap to leaders Liverpool to four points.
While their performance for much of the game against the Foxes, Mikel Arteta made a second half substitution that turned out to be a masterstroke. Mikel Merino replaced Raheem Sterling with around 20 minutes to go and took up an unfamiliar role as a centre-forward. The Spaniard then scored twice in the space of six minutes to secure a huge win for Arsenal.
Arsenal knew nothing but a win over a Foxes side fighting relegation would do. Failure to claim all three points and their remote chances of usurping Liverpool would surely have look all-but over. Instead, they will sit back and hope the league leaders drop points against Wolves. Read the game back below with our dedicated match blog.
