Burnley took the lead in the 11th minute when former Leicester man Chris Wood bullied James Justin off the ball and fired past Kasper Schmeichel.

But 10 minutes later the Foxes were level when Harvey Barnes found the bottom corner with a precise effort.

And Leicester then took the lead early in the second half when Timothy Castagne’s cross deflected off Erik Pieters past goalkeeper Nick Pope.

Brendan Rodgers’s side then went 3-1 up when Ayoze Perez’s pull back was tapped in by Justin at the back post for his first ever Premier League goal.

Jimmy Dunne then gave the Clarets a lifeline with a goal on his Premier League debut 17 minutes from time.

But just five minutes later it was 4-2 when Dennis Praet fired into the top corner for Leicester.

Wood almost pulled another goal back for Burnley in the dying minutes, but 4-2 was the final score.

Chelsea 0-2 Liverpool

Scorers: Mané 50′, 54′

Chelsea’s Timo Werner went close to opening the scoring in the 32nd minute but his left-footed placed effort went just wide of the post.

On the stroke of half-time, Chelsea had Andreas Christensen sent off for hauling down Sadio Mané when the Liverpool striker was clean through on goal.

Thiago Alcântara made his Liverpool debut from the bench at half-time and the champions soon took the lead, when Mané headed home from Roberto Firmino’s cross from the right.

Moments later it was 2-0 thanks to a horrendous error from Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who passed the ball straight to Mané on the edge of the six-yard box and the Senegal striker did the rest.

Chelsea then had a great chance to reduce the arrears from the spot when Thiago tripped Werner in the box and the referee pointed to the spot.

But Jorginho stepped up and his penalty was saved by Allison with 15 minutes remaining.

2-0 was the final score.

Newcastle 0-3 Brighton

Scorers: Maupay 4′ 8′, Connolly 84′

Brighton got off to the dream start at St James’ Park, scoring two goals inside the opening 10 minutes.

Neal Maupay netted from the penalty spot to give Graham Potter’s side the lead and then doubled his, and his team’s, account for the day after converting a cross.

Tariq Lamptey was running riot down the flanks and created chance after chance in a brilliant first half for the Seagulls.

After the break it was Aaron Connelly who went closest for Brighton, firing over from close range whilst the Newcastle forwards were surviving on scraps.

But Connolly did eventually get his goal, curling a finish from inside the area after a fast breakaway.

Southampton 2-5 Tottenham

Scorers: Ings 32′, 89; Son 45′ 47′ 65′ 74′, Kane 82′

Tottenham thought they had got off to the best possible start only to have a Harry Kane goal disallowed for offside.

That was then followed by Saints having one chalked off too after an Ings handball.

But the former Liverpool man made amends on the 30 minute mark when he controlled well and fired a low shot past Hugo Lloris for the opener.

The score was level going into the break though, as Heung-min Son broke at pace and fired in an equaliser.

The South Korea international then doubled his tally for the day with a neat finish immediately after half time.

And he completed his hat-trick midway through the half, once again finishing well after being played in on goal.

Son wasn’t finish there though, and got his fourth of the day with 15 minutes remaining.

Kane had been the provider all afternoon but got one himself late on, poking in from close range.

Southampton did pull one back late on as Ings scored from the penalty spot but it was too little too late.
