Leicester City may not be able to sack Brendan Rodgers because they do not have the finances needed to cover the compensation package he would be due if he is shown the door at the King Power Stadium, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

The Foxes have made a woeful start to the season and went into the international break sitting bottom of the Premier League table.

What’s the latest news involving Rodgers?

Rodgers admitted that he is under increasing pressure and he would respect the owners’ decision if he were to be axed after Leicester suffered a 6-2 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

While respected Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed the Foxes hierarchy were set to discuss the Northern Irishman’s future following the heavy loss in London, it appears he will be in the dugout when Nottingham Forest head to the King Power Stadium on October 3.

It is understood that Rodgers is on extremely thin ice and the vast majority of supporters expected him to have been sacked by now, but Leicester intend to give him a little more time to turn things around.

The 49-year-old would reportedly be entitled to a compensation package worth £10million if he is sacked.

Rodgers recently appeared to criticise the owners after claiming ‘this isn’t the club it was two years ago’ and the squad ‘hasn’t had the help it needed’ in the transfer market.

What has Dharmesh Sheth said about Rodgers?

Sheth understands a key factor for Rodgers still being at the helm is because Leicester would not be able to pay him off.

The Sky Sports reporter believes the financial issues, which were emphasised during the transfer window, is stopping the Foxes in their tracks.

Sheth told GIVEMESPORT: “One source has told me that it will be very difficult to actually sack Brendan Rodgers anyway because Leicester have got a lot of financial issues, which Brendan Rodgers even alluded to during the transfer window.

“We all know what happened with Leicester during the transfer window as well. Even though they brought in so much money by selling Wesley Fofana and getting Kasper Schmeichel’s wages off the bill, they only brought in one outfield player for a cost of around £12-15million. It was a really, really quiet transfer window as far as Leicester are concerned.”

Who could replace Rodgers if he is eventually sacked?

According to The Sun, Brentford chief Thomas Frank is at the top of the Leicester hierarchy’s list of potential replacements for Rodgers.

However, the report suggests the Dane is in no rush to leave west London after penning a new three-year contract in January.

Mauricio Pochettino, Rafael Benitez, Sean Dyche and Marcelo Bielsa have also been linked with the job.
