Leicester City have announced the appointment of Enzo Maresca as their new head coach until 2026.

Maresca was Pep Guardiola’s assistant for last season having returned to Manchester City, where he had previously worked as an elite development coach, after a 14-game stint at Parma, his only other managerial job.

The 43-year-old reportedly was hugely impressive in his interview for the Leicester role with club chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha and director of football Jon Rudkin.

Former Leicester midfielder Esteban Cambiasso is said to have been consulted for his opinion regarding the appointment.

Maresca allegedly beat off the competition of Dean Smith (interim coach at the end of last season), Steven Gerrard and Scott Parker to land the job.

He will be tasked with bringing Leicester back to the Premier League at the first time of asking but he is likely to lose James Maddison and Harvey Barnes amongst others before his first game in charge.
