Caleb Okoli scored a dramatic equaliser as relegation-threatened Leicester City halted an eight-match losing streak and frustrated Brighton’s hopes of qualifying for Europe with a hard-fought 2-2 draw at the King Power Stadium.

In for the injured Wout Faes, Okoli rose to meet Bilal El Khannouss' free-kick, powering a header past Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen to earn the Foxes a point.

Leicester had broken their 885-minute goal drought in the first-half when Stephy Mavididi capitalised on a defensive error from Lewis Dunk to cancel out Joao Pedro’s first-half penalty.

Pedro had opened the scoring for Brighton from the spot just past the half-hour mark after Simon Adingra’s shot struck the arm of Leicester's Conor Coady inside the penalty area.

Despite a string of chances, including a shot that grazed the top of the crossbar from Adingra, Mavididi took full advantage of a mistake from Dunk to score Leicester's first league goal since January 26.

Brighton looked to reclaim control, with Matt O’Riley striking the woodwork, but Leicester finished the half strongly. Verbruggen was called into action, tipping away a header from Kasey McAteer to keep the visitors ahead.

The Seagulls regained the lead early in the second half after Luke Thomas was penalised for pulling O'Riley's shirt inside the box. Pedro made no mistake with his second penalty, dispatching it into the top corner.

Undeterred, the Foxes continued to press for an equaliser. After Patson Daka was denied by Verbruggen, Okoli was in the right place to turn home El Khannouss’ precise delivery from a free-kick to restore parity.

Leicester came close to claiming all three points when El Khannouss’ curling shot struck the woodwork in the dying moments.

Brighton’s winless run now extends to three matches, with the Seagulls sitting in ninth, seven points behind the top four.
