Leicester look set to finally sell Islam Slimani after the striker’s ill-conceived spell with the Foxes.
The Algeria international arrived at the King Power Stadium in 2016 for a reported £28m from Sporting CP.
However, the 32-year-old’s time in Blue has been a bust, and has seen him spend most of the last four years out on loan.
The disappointing nature of his Leicester career is illustrated in his record of 13 goals in just 47 appearances.
He spent last season on loan at Monaco, but now L’Equipe reports (via Leicestershire Live) that fellow Ligue 1 side Rennes are in talks to bring Slimani north to Brittany.
A figure of £5.5m has been mentioned, which would represent a massive loss on Leicester’s initial investment.
But with Slimani’s five-year contract set to expire at the end of the upcoming season, manager Brendan Rodgers would much rather bring in some cash now than lose the attacker for nothing next summer.
