Leicester City end the 2021/22 Premier League campaign in front of their own fans against Southampton on Sunday afternoon.

Neither club has exactly cantered towards the finish line. Leicester bowed out of the Europa Conference League at the semi-final stage and have gone more than a month without defeating a Premier League side that will grace the competition next season.

Leicester team news

Brendan Rodgers has been without former Saints left-back Ryan Bertrand since he underwent knee surgery in February. Wilfred Ndidi's campaign was also cut short after picking up an injury which required an operation on the same area at the end of March.

Hamza Choudhury recovered from a slight tear in his groin to appear among the substitutes for Leicester's 1-1 draw against Chelsea in midweek. However, both Youri Tielemans (knee) and James Justin (illness) were absent, leaving their involvement this Sunday shrouded in uncertainty.

Southampton team news

Tino Livramento has had successful surgery on a knee injury that is set to sideline him for the rest of 2022. Romain Perraud fractured his foot - despite Ralph Hasenhuttl suggesting it was his leg - ahead of Southampton's midweek loss to Liverpool. The left-back isn't expected back until July.

Fraser Forster was forced out of the starting XI after an impressive period as Alex McCarthy's stand-in on Tuesday with back, joint and knee problems. As Hasenhuttl summarised, Forster was suffering from 'a little bit of everything'.

Leicester vs Southampton score prediction

The bulk of Leicester's middling points tally has been won on home turf. Oddly Everton are the only side outside the division's top five to earn a victory at a ground where the Foxes remained unbeaten throughout their European travails this term.

Only the Toffees, Burnley and Norwich have won fewer away matches than the homesick Saints this season - who haven't exactly impressed in any venue from March onwards.
