Leicester City will face Burnley at the King Power Stadium in the sixth gameweek of the Premier League. Leicester City will be going into the game after a disappointing defeat away at Brighton.

Leicester have had a slow start to the season as they have only won two of their opening five games and have faced two straight defeats against Manchester City and Brighton. While Leicester were clearly dominated by Manchester City and failed to create any significant chances in the game, it was a much better performance by the Foxes in the game against Brighton. They dominated possession and created more number of attacking actions but were ineffective in front of goal as they only managed to keep two shots on target out of the 15 shots they attempted.

The above visual shows us the shot map for Leicester against Brighton. The visual indicates that Leicester only had one shot from inside the penalty area which was the only goal they scored. They had more shots taken from outside the ball and only of these attempts was on target. They had a very low shot on target percentage of 13.33%. Leicester need to try and put in more passes into the penalty area and produce more attempts from these positions.

Leicester have only scored five goals in the season and Jamie Vardy has scored three of these goals. Jamie Vardy has been their best hope while attacking so far but he has not received the service that he usually does in order to score goals.

Burnley have had a poor start to the season as they have only one point from the five matches they have played and are currently second last on the table. The Clarets have only scored three goals and have conceded six goals.

It was a positive performance by the Clarets, but were unfortunate as they could not score against the Gunners. They had more attempts on goal than Arsenal and also attempted more attacking actions. They attempted a total of 41 crosses throughout the game but failed to get the desired outcome.

Burnley are known for their aerial prowess and the ability of their players to win aerial duels inside the penalty area. The above visual indicates the same, Burnley focused on creating opportunities by putting in crosses for their forwards. Dwight McNeil and Charlie Taylor attempted the most number of crosses for them from the left side of the pitch.

Burnley have dropped eight points from winning positions in the Premier League this season. Only the top two sides, Chelsea and Liverpool have opened the scoring in more of their games than the Clarets. Burnley have opened the scoring in three of their games, but have failed to maintain their lead in all three games as they lost two and drew one game.

Burnley have had positive takeaways from their previous games and can reflect on those points in their game against Leicester. Leicester on the other hand are still a little shaky in the defence as they do not have many choices to choose from in their backline. But it is highly likely Leicester will take advantage of Burnley’s poor form in the season and look to add to their points tally.
