Leicester are yet to sign a new player this summer - could that be about to change in the near future?
Leeds United forward Sam Greenwood is an attacking option that Leicester City are reportedly looking at this summer.
A big job lies ahead of Leicester to get this squad back to the Championship-winning level that it was at two seasons ago.
With Jamie Vardy leaving on a free and some of their other attacking talents being looked at by top flight outfits, their attack, which only scored a handful of goals in the Premier League in the first four months of 2025, is in serious need of reconstruction.
Vardy led the club's scoring charge the last time they were in the second tier, netting 18 times, as well as in the 2024/25 campaign with nine goals.
To help replace the scoring prowess that was brought by the 38-year-old, Leicester are considering a move for Leeds' Sam Greenwood.
This is according to the Daily Mail, who added that Sunderland are also keeping an eye on the 23-year-old former England under-21.
Greenwood, who is originally from Wearside, spent last season on loan with Preston North End.
He was one of the few bright sparks in a very poor season for Paul Heckingbottom's side. They just about survived relegation, but Greenwood was able to chip in with eight direct goal contributions in the league.
The Lilywhites had the option to sign him permanently at the end of his loan spell but chose not to activate that clause, despite the fact he was seventh in the entire Championship for big chances created last season with 14.
A versatile attacker who, interestingly, was sent off twice last season, Greenwood crucially has one year left on his Leeds deal, meaning that Leicester would have to pay a fee for him.
It's very unlikely that he will come back into Daniel Farke's thinking following their promotion to the Premier League, so a move for the former Arsenal academy member would be welcomed by those at Elland Road.
His ability to play across the front-line would help Leicester if they were to lose one of their own few shining lights from the previous campaign. Football League World's sister publication, GiveMeSport, has reported that Bilal El Khannouss is wanted by Wolves, following Matheus Cunha's move to Manchester United.
El Khannouss was only bought by the Foxes last summer for £21 million from Belgian side Genk. The Moroccan has a reported release clause of €26 million (just over £22 million).
The counting numbers that the Moroccan international racked up over the course of last season weren't anything hugely special, but you could see the talent of the player in a really poor team, hence why Wolves are looking at him.
To lose someone like El Khannouss and bring in Greenwood, not as a direct replacement but as another option to carry the attacking load, would be a somewhat of a sobering indictment of where Leicester are at.
They may get docked a minimum of 12 points next season because of their suspected financial misconduct. They have an extremely uncertain managerial situation.
The acquisition of, frankly, a mid-table Championship talent wouldn't suggest that the King Power Stadium is going to be the host of a club-wide resurgence, but it remains to be seen if a bid goes in.
