Leicester City’s interim head coach Jennifer Foster says that the team must look to get the finer details right against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

The Foxes travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday to contest an Adobe Women’s FA Cup semi-final tie. The winners will progress to the final for the very first time.

Leicester City have failed to defeat Spurs in either of their previous two meetings this season. When speaking in the pre-match press conference, interim boss Foster said that The Foxes must get the finer details right this time around if they are to have the best chance of being successful.

“I think especially the last game, it was the final details which we know about, we didn’t look quite at our best,” Foster said.

“For us, we know how we play, expansive football, etc, so we just need to make sure that when we do get in the final third, we’re good with those details and make sure in terms of our build-up, we’re spot on.

“I think it’ll be a really close game, there’s a lot of talent from both sides but for us, the learning points from the last time of making sure those finer details are right is where our focus will be.”

With so much on the line for both sides this weekend, Foster says that she will be looking for her experienced players to step up to the mark, lead by example and help calm any nerves.

She said “I’m sure there will be a few nerves but I think with the experience that we’ve got in the squad, a lot of players will have played at World Cups, EUROs, etc. We’ll probably be relying on a lot of the experience that those players have had to help some of the younger ones or players that haven’t been in a similar situation before.

“In terms of nerves, I think it’s good to have nerves. As long as we’re able to turn that into adrenaline and the performance, I think we’ll be completely fine. I’m sure we’ll be able to do that.”

Leicester City’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup semi-final tie at Tottenham Hotspur kicks-off at 12pm on Sunday afternoon.
