Leicester City forward Hannah Cain will miss the remainder of the season after sustaining another Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.

The Foxes announced news of Cain’s injury via their official club media channels earlier today.

It has been reported that Cain sustained her injury whilst away on international duty with Wales. The player was a notable absentee as Gemma Grainger’s side went down 2-1 to Iceland in Cardiff in the UEFA Women’s Nations League last night.

Cain is no stranger to Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injuries, the player has sustained the same injury before. Cain last ruptured her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) in Wales’ November 2021 camp and she was sidelined for a little over a year.

The forward’s latest injury comes at a time when competition for places at Leicester City is stronger than ever before. Cain has impressed for The Foxes but she has started in just four of her eight league outings this season. The player will have to support the development of the team from the sidelines in the remainder of the season.

Leicester City continue their campaign after the international break with a Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion at Broadfield Stadium on Sunday 10 December 2023.
