Donny van de Beek could be on the move in January if his situation at Manchester United does not improve.

According to the Daily Mail, Leicester City are eyeing a move for Van de Beek which could set the Foxes back £13 million.

The Netherlands midfielder has not been a regular in the team since joining the club in 2020 and Leicester could see him as a replacement for Youri Tielemans.

In total, Van de Beek has played just 1855 minutes across 53 appearances for United in all competitions.

It was suggested that his fortunes would improve this season after reuniting with Erik ten Hag, but an injury ruled him out for selection in the opening weeks of the season.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims Van de Beek’s situation is ‘open’, which means anything could happen in the coming months. He will be demanding more than the 15 minutes he has got on the pitch this season.

In an exclusive column for Caught Offside, Van de Beek wrote: “There’s no decision on his future as it depends on the next two months for Van de Beek. For sure, he wants to play and so we have to follow the situation because it could change in January.

“I think it’s an open situation for January market, it depends on if Ten Hag ends up using him more, and if Donny is happy with his role, of course.”

Time to say goodbye to Van de Beek

Things have not gone to plan for Van de Beek and it seems like he is picking up a wage at United without giving anything back.

Maybe that will change throughout the season, but right now I think United should be looking to cash in on Van de Beek, even at a loss.

It’s time to cut our losses.
