Leicester City could cash in on Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

The Foxes’ financial issues are well-known, as they’ve been in dispute with the EFL in the past few months, and it has been claimed they will be hit with a points deduction on their return to the Premier League, which was confirmed last week, and they also secured the title at Preston on Monday night.

Whilst promotion would usually bring optimism and hope about what the future could hold, Leicester’s reality is a bit different, as they still have financial problems to solve.

And, Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett has explained why Dewsbury-Hall could leave the King Power Stadium by June 30 to ease any concerns.

Player sales are inevitable and it is a distinct possibility that Leicester will sell their best player - Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall - in the next two months.

As a graduate of Leicester's academy, any transfer fee would be pure profit, which is why, of all the members of Leicester's squad, Dewsbury-Hall is the most saleable - and their easiest way of solving their PSR concerns.

A number of Premier League clubs - including Brentford and Brighton - wanted to buy the midfielder in January but Leicester didn't want to sell him then. They are determined not to let him go on the cheap, despite the pressures of timescale and the balance sheet.

The sale of Dewsbury-Hall would solve Leicester's PSR worries in one fell swoop, whereas closing the deficit by selling other players may be more problematic.”

Dewsbury-Hall has excelled for Enzo Maresca’s side this season, scoring 12 goals and registering 14 assists, which also saw him named in the Championship Team of the Year.

Abdul Fatawu transfer latest

There was some good news in the update though, as Dorsett stated that the club will push through with a deal to bring Abdul Fatawu to the club on a permanent basis.

The winger is another who has been outstanding this season, having initially joined on loan from Sporting CP in the summer.

Part of the agreement was that Leicester had an obligation to buy Fatawu permanently for £14.5m if they went up, which has obviously happened.

Despite confusion about whether they could still do that due to their financial position, it seems the speedy winger will extend his stay in the Midlands, as he is going to join on a long-term contract.

Jamie Vardy set for Leicester City stay

Another figure who was facing an uncertain future is legendary striker Vardy, as his contract with the club is up in the summer.

Once more, there were doubts about whether the club had the funds to agree a new deal, and previous reports had indicated that Vardy could be on the move.

But, in a development that will please all Leicester fans, Dorsett has revealed that it’s ‘expected’ Vardy will put pen to paper on a new 12-month contract in the ‘coming days’.

The 37-year-old has reiterated his desire to continue playing, and he continues to make huge contributions on the pitch, as he scored twice in the convincing win at Deepdale.

Leicester City’s summer plans

It seems there’s a lot of work to do for Leicester in the coming weeks as they initially try to balance the books, and it will be a real shame for the club if they do have to sell Dewsbury-Hall.

Then, it will be about ensuring the side is competitive, as Maresca will want a few new faces through the door to help the group.

So, it will be very interesting to see how it all plays out in the coming weeks and months, and it’s a relief for all connected to the club that Fatawu and Vardy appear to be sticking around.
