Manchester United made it three wins on the spin with a 1-0 victory away to Leicester.

After a nightmare start to the season that saw them lose to Brighton and Brentford, Erik ten Hag’s side have well and truly turned things around.

The revival started with a hard-fought win against Liverpool at Old Trafford and has since seen them pick up back-to-back victories on the road, ending a torrid run of poor away form.

What has impressed fans is Ten Hag’s tweaks to his starting XI and how settled United are now beginning to look under the new manager, after such a shaky start.

The defensive duo of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez has provided United with confidence and stability in the back, while Tyrell Malacia and Diogo Dalot have also been impressive in the full back positions.

Elsewhere, partnerships further up the field are slowly beginning to blossom as the players gel and get more comfortable with Ten Hag’s demands. The attacks are beginning to look more fluid and the midfield more composed.

A big part of that is down to the influence of Christian Eriksen, who has quickly established himself as a key player after signing on a free transfer.

But while all the fanfare is on United’s slightly new look and how new signings such as Casemiro and Antony will further improve the XI, the vast improvement of more household names has gone under the radar.

It was Jadon Sancho’s goal that secured the win against Leicester with the assist coming from Marcus Rashford. Both players still have plenty to do, but are looking much more assured and confident with the help of Ten Hag and his tweaked attacking setup.

One man who certainly is flying under the radar, however, is Scott McTominay, who has bounced back well after a shaky start to the season amid increased competition for places.

The jury has and will likely continue to always be out on McTominay, with both rival fans and United fans endlessly unsure on just how good he is and what he offers. Despite the constant criticisms he faces, though, he has managed to keep his place as an integral piece to the first-team squad under several different managers.

While many United fans continue to fume over that, the truth is that McTominay is clearly a player trusted by top coaches for a number of reasons and that looks unlikely to change. His recent performances have also been key to that and while many would’ve predicted Casemiro would’ve started in place of him at Leicester, he didn’t.

McTominay quietly made another fine account of himself at the King Power Stadium, which has been noticed by fans online. A compilation video showing the Scotland international’s highlights is doing the rounds on Twitter, showing a balanced and honest display.

It did not go without its faults, of course, but the signs were promising and the compilation backs that up. In fact, McTominay looks surprisingly good. Be sure to check it out below.

For a man whose performances are constantly criticised, McTominay put in a pretty impressive display and it’s hard to suggest he deserves dropping from the starting XI right now.

Fans have echoed the sentiment, praising the 25-year-old for an unexpectedly dominant performance. Take a look below.

Next up for United is a huge test as they welcome Arsenal to Old Trafford, who have been virtually flawless this season as they sit top of the Premier League table.

For United and McTominay, the mammoth clash presents a golden opportunity to prove that their recent resurgence in form is not just a flash in the pan, but a sustained improvement after the disappointment of their first two games.

If McTominay keeps his place in the starting XI, then he can silence the doubters even further with another performance like the one he managed against Leicester.
