Legia Warsaw v Celtic: team news, KO time and where to watch | OneFootball

Celtic are in Poland to provide the opposition for Legia Warsaw in the Artur Boruc testimonial match this afternoon. The sides last met in a competitive fixture at Murrayfield in August 2014 in a Champions League qualifier with the then Polish Champions winning the match 2-0 – or so it seemed.

A late substitution involving Legia introducing an ineligible player who was serving a suspension meant that UEFA overturned the result an awarded Celtic a 3-0 victory, the score that they needed to progress on the away goals rule having lost 4-1 in Warsaw.

The Legia fans took all of this pretty badly at the time so Celtic can expect a hostile reception this evening and a competitive match which will suit Ange Postecoglou perfectly.

But that was then and the more pressing matter as far as Celtic is concerned is to challenge ourselves against decent opposition away from home as a dress rehearsal of sorts for the away day action that is ahead in European football in the new season.

TEAM NEWS

Both new signings Aaron Mooy and Moritz Jenz will sit this one out as they won’t join up with their new teammates  until Friday ahead of the match against Norwich City on Saturday.  Reo Hatate is back training and should be available this evening. Carl Starfelt will remain sidelined with his targeted return being the flag day Scottish Premiership opener against Aberdeen. Giorgos Giakoumakis has been away from the squad for a few days on family business  so is likely to be missing this evening.  Joe Hart will most likely start in goals but there’s a chance that Artur Boric will switch sides later in the game to play for Celtic one last time!

Turnbull, O’Riley, Abada and Jota were all on top form in that first half against Blackburn and alongside Kyogo will be looking to continue with that level of performance this afternoon.

Today’s Legia Warsaw v Celtic game at the Stadion Wojska Polskiego in the Polish capital kicks off at 5pm (Celtic Park Time).
