According to reports from journalist Alfredo Pedullà, Spanish defender Raúl Albiol is scheduled to undergo a medical examination in Pisa on Monday.

The World Cup-winning and two-time European Championship centre-back has welcomed a return to Italian football, having met with the newly-promoted Serie A side’s officials and agreed to terms ahead of the move. Notably, the player will turn 40 years old next week.

Albiol has been without a club since his contract with Villarreal came to an end. He originally joined the Spanish side from Napoli back in 2019, following a six-year spell with the Italian club during which he lifted the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana.
