Leeds United is a “good platform” for USA star Tyler Adams right now, believes journalist Dean Jones.

Adams has been linked with a move to Manchester United, and while Jones feels the midfielder has the potential to play at the very top one day, he thinks he should remain at Elland Road for the time being.

Leeds transfer news – Tyler Adams

Back in October, Football Insider claimed that Manchester United are keeping close tabs on Adams.

Jones has also told GIVEMESPORT that the 23-year-old is a player who the Red Devils have had on their radar before.

You would imagine, though, that Leeds will be reluctant to sell him. Adams only joined Jesse Marsch’s side during the summer after arriving from RB Leipzig in a £20m deal, according to BBC Sport.

And he has quickly become an important member of Leeds’ squad. As per Transfermarkt, the USA captain has missed just one Premier League game for the Whites this season.

What has Dean Jones said about Tyler Adams and Leeds?

Jones is confident that Elland Road is the environment for Adams right now.

Speaking to GMS, the transfer reporter said: “He’s got such big responsibility at such a young age and he’s willing to handle it all. Adams has the potential to play all the way to the very top of the game, but I think Leeds is a good platform for him right now, to be honest.”

How did Tyler Adams perform at the World Cup?

WhoScored, which is hardly a surprise when you look at some of his stats.

During the tournament, Adams made 2.8 tackles per game, which was the highest average in Gregg Berhalter’s squad. He was also completing 66 passes a match, a number only Tim Ream (68.5) could better.

“I was in Florida when the game was played and saw the American reaction,” West Ham manager David Moyes said in his column for The Times after the USA’s 0-0 draw with England.

“They felt they were the better team and that Tyler Adams was the best player on the pitch. I agree about Adams (Tim Ream was excellent too) but actually thought England, for all that they weren’t at their best, were still the superior side.”

Ultimately, if Adams’ displays at the World Cup are anything to go by, you can see why a top club would want to sign him. But they also show why Leeds and Marsch will be desperate to keep hold of him, especially with the former Leipzig man having only just joined the club.
