Leeds United could offload Mateusz Klich in the January transfer window, with the midfielder frustrated with his lack of minutes, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Polish midfielder is yet to start a Premier League fixture under Jesse Marsch this season and it could lead to a move when the window opens in January as he searches for first-team football.

How has Klich been used this season?

Following his appointment in February, this is Marsch’s first full campaign as Leeds’ head coach and he has began to shape the team and squad in his image.

In the summer, the Whites’ boss recruited fellow Americans Brenden Aaronson and Tyler Adams, which has limited Klich’s opportunities to impress, while Danish right-back Rasmus Kristensen was another arrival at Elland Road.

Marsch’s preferred options have reduced Klich to a substitute role this season, having failed to start a single Premier League game, and it’s cost the 32-year-old a place in Poland’s World Cup squad.

What has Dean Jones said about Klich’s position at Leeds?

Jones believes that Klich’s future could lay elsewhere as he is just not seen as one of Marsch’s preferred options in Yorkshire.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s just personal preference really. This is the kind of thing that happens when you change manager and Klich has kind of been a victim of that switch.

“He is very frustrated, he is looking for a transfer when we get to January, and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if he ends up getting one.”

How important has Klich been to Leeds’ revival?

Klich’s departure from Elland Road, having enjoyed 192 outings, would see another member from Marcelo Bielsa’s successful reign in charge leave the club.

The Pole joined Leeds in 2017, but it wasn’t until the arrival of Bielsa ahead of the 2018-19 season that he became a vital part of the set-up. Klich rarely missed a minute of Bielsa’s first two seasons in charge and at one stage amassed a run of 92 consecutive appearances.

That importance continued under the Argentine in the Premier League, but since he was sacked by the club, it has seen Klich fall out of favour under Leeds’ new regime.

If made available, clubs from Italy, Germany and France are said to be keen on the midfielder’s services, with some looking at a short-term loan in January.
